Anyone who is interested in M&A, investment banking, or IPOs should take this course.
This course focuses on examining various practical applications of the fundamental financial analysis and valuation techniques employed in the investment banking industry. Specifically, we will examine how to analyze how a private equity firm or other financial sponsor completes a leveraged buyout of a company, how a public company analyzes the impact of acquiring a company on its earnings per share, and how a company completes an initial public offering. The course will benefit anyone who desires to increase their ability to understand and execute M&A and capital markets transactions, including (but not limited to), entrepreneurs, consultants, bankers, investors, analysts, corporate managers, marketers, strategists, and dealmakers of all types.

This course offers an outstanding, end-to-end exploration of M&A and IPO processes. The modules on valuation techniques (DCF, comparables, precedent transactions), underwriting roles, and deal structuring were obvious and practical. Real-world case studies—like the Legends Sporting Goods analysis—reinforced theoretical concepts and honed my financial modeling skills. The interactive quizzes and peer discussions added depth and helped solidify my understanding. I highly recommend this course to any finance professional or student looking to master M&A advisory and IPO execution
I recently completed the Mergers and Acquisitions Specialization by the University of Illinois through Coursera. The course was challenging and enriching, offering deep insights into valuation, deal structuring, and financial modeling. The faculty provided excellent guidance, and the collaborative learning environment was highly rewarding. Highly recommend this specialization for anyone looking to deepen their knowledge in M&A. Warm regards, Oleksandr Vorontsov

The courses by Mr. Metzgar are worth it and has some practicality. Otherwise too theoretical with little applicability. I wonder why M&A courses do not have a live example or two? May be worth exploring other courses. Completed this too quickly which is another barometer.
