This course is applicable to my work in community development. It helps me in the co-designing, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and learning process of sustainable community-based programs.

I enjoyed this course and learnt many things about effective engagement of civil society in development

Effectiveness in Accra, governments have committed to create a legal and regulatory environment that is favorable for CSOs and supports CSOs in fulfilling their diverse roles in development. An enabling legal and regulatory environment can greatly contribute to CSO effectiveness in development, including with respect to realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). CSOs are expected to contribute to implementing and monitoring the SDGs - both individually and as part of the multi-stakeholder partnerships called for under SDG 17. In addition, the existence of a vibrant civil society can be considered part of SDG 16 on peaceful and inclusive societies. With just 10 years left to achieve Agenda 2030, governments are increasingly integrating the SDGs into national plans and strategies. It also requires national laws, policies and regulations that respect, protect and promote these fundamental freedoms and their associated principles, not only on paper but also in practice. Alignment should be sought with international standards that have been developed for these fundamental freedoms, amongst others by the UN Special Rapporteur on the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and Association. We work with global institutions to improve international standards so that they protect and promote civil society. We work with civil society, governments, and others to improve local laws affecting civil society. When restrictive laws are passed, we help organizations continue their important work in changing environments. We build and maintain an up-to-date knowledge base through innovative research and analysis. We track legislative trends and keep our partners updated on developments affecting civic space around the world.

The overall experience can be described as excellent, with many aspects standing out as truly impressive and well-executed. While a few areas may feel average or acceptable, they do not significantly affect the overall quality. In fact, most features are great and even outstanding at times, making the experience satisfying and enjoyable. Although there is minor room for improvement, nothing feels poor or disappointing, and the result remains largely superb and worth appreciating.

Effective feedback is specific, actionable, and timely, focusing on behavior rather than personality to drive improvement. It highlights strengths, offers clear examples for growth, and maintains a balance between positive reinforcement and constructive redirection

Capacity building within CSOs and fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships can enhance their ability to contribute effectively. When civil society is empowered and meaningfully included, development becomes more participatory, equitable, and impactful.

The course has been efficiently designed and runs at a requisite pace enabling the learners to understand and comprehend each of the points pertaining to Civil Society and their effective engagement in the development.
