I am learning to expand my knowledge in hospitality, therefore this course seemed like a good choice. I am however disappointed with the structure of this course, many 'facts' were repetitive, videos were short and often interesting. The presenter kept mentioning Ritz-Carlton and Marriot in every lesson, as if there were no other chains. I couldn't figure out where her accent was from, but it was also difficult for me to listen to her, so I put the video on 1,5x playback, just to be done faster. The pronunciation of A, U, and H in words was very fluid and uneven throughout the lecture, and this was very distracting for me. The course was divided into 4 weeks, each week had 4 lessons and each lesson had several videos, discussion and short quizzes. I would prefer if the videos were longer, but less repetitive and contained a new information (I don't feel like I have learned anything I haven't heard before). Let's say the slide talked about sustainability. The lecturer mentioned that it is important to go the energy-saving route, reduce, recycle, reuse, collect rainwater off the roofs. Ok, perfect, we need sustainability. Now let's talk about AI chatbots. I completed the course in about 5-6 hrs in one day. Nothing new or special. Easy to do though.

Firstly, I am grateful to Coursera for allowing me to learn through this platform from the convenient of my home. Hospitality management is an interesting and demanding subject, I would say in this 21st century because it is ever-changing with the period of time and advancement of technology. I took this course as I grew interest on this subject recently and I am quite happy that I learned many things from this course that I was unaware about. This course will serve as the first step of my journey of learning on hospitality management. I would like to thank the instructor who guided me in this whole journey and her deliberation was nice and eloquent. Thank you for teaching me! Now, I would like to highlight on few aspects that can be improved upon. The video lectures would be more interesting if some demo videos were shown as example on different topics. It would help the learners to grasp the topic more quickly. The instructor mentioned about providing link of various websites or articles during the video as additional resources. But I did not find all those links of websites or articles in the Additional Resource section. May be some of them were there, but not all. This is all. I would appreciate if this things are taken care of by Coursera that will help the future learners.

content was high level but ok english translation wasn't very smooth the quizzes tested if you knew the course but not if you knew about hospitality management in the 21st century

I know the course is called “Introduction” but it really is very, very basic, everything said was common sense. “Here are some types of hospitality businesses: hotels and restaurants.” “Make sure you are attentive to guests.” “Be forward thinking.” Never would have thought of that, thanks…. There will be a topic titled like “cross-cultural training: preparing staff to understand and appreciate cultural norms” and the entire lesson just repeats “you should train your staff to appreciate cultural norms” in 5 different ways, just rewording that same title phrase but never delving deeper into exactly how you should achieve that. I was hoping for more concrete info about day-to-day hospitality management, like CRM systems or something.

The many typos in the reading/presentation material give me an unfavourable impression of the trainer and the course, and makes me feel like it has all been put together in a hurry. The trainer is also hard to understand at times because her pronunciation is not very good. I understand English is not everyone's first language, but there at some points I had to stop and read the transcript or else I am lost, and having to pause and refer all the time really disrupts the flow.
